“Tomorrow’s World” is a single from Ugly Kid Joe’s second studio album, Menace to Sobriety, released in 1995 via Mercury Records. Serving as the album’s lead single, the track marked a sharp tonal shift for the band. Gone was the tongue-in-cheek humor and satirical swagger that had defined much of their earlier work. Instead, “Tomorrow’s World” delivered a dark-edged, modern metal sound driven by heavy riffs, bleak atmosphere, and a sense of urgency.
There were no jokes and no irony—just Whitfield Crane pushing his vocals to the limit, raw and unfiltered. Lyrically and musically, the song reflected a more serious, introspective mindset, touching on themes of disillusionment and uncertainty about the future. Menace to Sobriety largely followed this same path, embracing a heavier and more emotionally grounded approach throughout.
